We are pleased to share the successful completion of the Euroclustering IKAT Tourism Project, co-financed by the European Union and managed by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency. This project has had as its main objective to promote innovation, digitalisation, green sustainability, and the internationalisation of SMEs in the coastal and maritime tourism sector.
Creation of a Eurocluster: Synergies for the transformation of tourism
The heart of the IKAT Project has been the formation of a Eurocluster, which has integrated key players from the European industrial ecosystem's tourism, maritime, logistics, and innovation sectors. This collaboration has made it possible to promote digitalisation, environmental sustainability, and the adaptation of coastal tourism to current challenges.
Highlighted results of the IKAT calls
During its execution, the project launched two calls aimed at small and medium-sized maritime and coastal tourism companies. These initiatives provided access to business acceleration services, support for innovation, internationalisation, digital transformation, and ecological transition. The response has been remarkable, reflecting the sector's commitment to modernisation and sustainability:
1st Call: 70 applications received, 42 beneficiary SMEs, and 79 services funded.
2nd Call: 78 applications received, 42 beneficiary SMEs, and 78 services funded.
Tangible impact on SMEs and the tourism sector
In addition to the calls, the IKAT Project has offered personalised solutions adapted to the needs of each region, considering its economic vulnerability and dependence on tourism. The services provided have improved the resilience and adaptability of SMEs, strengthening their competitiveness in both national and international markets.
The legacy of the IKAT project lays the foundations for a more innovative, efficient and sustainable coastal and maritime tourism sector, consolidating a network of collaboration between companies, institutions and professionals in the maritime field.
From the IKAT Consortium, we thank all the entities and participants who have contributed to the success of this initiative.
We continue working towards a more sustainable and innovative future for our sector!
